OSJEĆAM SE KIKI / I FEEL LIKE KIKI
U sklopu popratnog programa prikazat će se retrospektiva Dalibora Barića, jednog od najzanimljivijih i beskompromisnijih hrvatskih umjetnika. Čak tri njegova filma natjecala su se za nominaciju za Oscara, a dva će biti dio retrospektivnog programa. Kod oba filma korištena je generativna umjetna inteligencija kao jedan od glavnih alata za stvaranje vizualnog materijala.
As part of the accompanying programme, we will present a retrospective of Dalibor Barić, one of the most interesting and uncompromising Croatian artists, whose three films were in contention for an Oscar nomination. Two of these films will be screened in the retrospective programme. In both films, generative artificial intelligence was used as one of the main tools for creating the visual material.

Dalibor Barić multimedijski je umjetnik koji živi i radi u Zagrebu. Autor je kratkometražnih i dugometražnih eksperimentalnih i animiranih filmova, glazbenih spotova, festivalskih špica, instalacija, stripova, crteža i kolaža. Bavi se glazbom, nastupa kao VJ.
Dalibor Barić is a multimedia artist who lives and works in Zagreb. He creates short and feature-length experimental animated films, music videos, festival trailers, installations, graphic novels, drawings and cut-outs. He is also a music composer and VJ performer.

Roman Novotny, nekad cijenjeni scenarist, danas je zaboravljen autor koji nevoljko prihvaća posao u bizarnome turističkom resortu Simula Peninsula. Ondje se, pod vodstvom zagonetnog doktora Dopplera, odvija neobičan eksperiment: simulirano “filmsko” ljetovalište u kojem gosti igraju unaprijed pisane uloge, a scenaristi — “operateri” — svakodnevno kreiraju njihove priče. U fokusu su fiktivne drame Klara i njezin zaručnik, čiji se odnos raspada, te enigmatična figura s porculanskom maskom, Persona — jedini lik koji je potpuno svjestan da se svi nalaze unutar filma.
Roman Novotny, once a respected screenwriter, is now a forgotten author who reluctantly accepts a job at the bizarre tourist resort called Simula Peninsula. There, under the leadership of the enigmatic Doctor Doppler, a strange experiment is taking place: a simulated “cinematic” resort where guests play pre-written roles, and the screenwriters—“operators”—create their stories anew every day. At the heart of the fictional drama are Klara and her fiancé, whose relationship is falling apart, and an enigmatic figure wearing a porcelain mask, Persona—the only character fully aware that they are all inside a film.

U mrtvom i praznome distopijskom svijetu, gdje vlada permanentna sadašnjost koja poput crne rupe apsorbira svaku prošlost i svaku budućnost, nalazi se mjesto u kojem više nitko ne postoji i gdje su svi samo vlastite halucinacije na rubu nestajanja.
In a dead and void dystopian world, where permanent present reigns and absorbs like a black hole every past as well as every future, there is a place where no one exists anymore and everyone is just their own hallucination on the verge of disappearing.

Astronaut od perolaka mračna je slika hiperkapitalističkoga transhumanog društva u kojem je tijelo roba, a novac besmrtnost. Od svemirskih spa-kolonija do radnih plantaža, svi pokušavaju sačuvati svoja tijela.
Astronaut of Featherweight is a dark vision of the hypercapitalist transhuman society in which the body is a commodity and money is immortality. From space spa colonies to alien plantations, everybody is forced to take care of their bodies.

Između “Dream On” i “Dream Off” samo je jedan dah – prijelaz iz slike-sjećanja u sjećanje-sliku, trenutak u kojem film više ne promatra stvarnost, nego izvodi čin njezina pamćenja. Between Dream On and Dream Off there is a breath – a transition from image-memory to memory-image, a moment where cinema no longer observes reality but performs the very act of remembering it.
