11 KIKI – MEĐUNARODNI FESTIVAL DJEČJEG FILMA
11th KIKI – INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN

Festival otvaramo inkluzivnim filmom Nerazumijevalica u kojem glume djeca i mladi s poteškoćama u razvoju.

Uz središnji i glavni dio festivala – program projekcija u listopadu, 11.

Posjetili smo i Petrinju gdje smo u suradnji s Društvom „Naša djeca“ Petrinja organizirali projekciju  i radionicu stop-animacije.

11th KIKI International Film Festival for Children will be held in cinemas in Krapinske Toplice, Zabok and Krapina, from October 8th until 14th, 2022, organized by the association “Naša djeca” (Our Children Zabok) and Citizens’ Association for Culture − GOKUL.

The festival will be opened by a screening of the film Understandinglessness, featuring children and youth with disabilities.

The KIKI programme brings together professional feature films, documentaries, animated and experimental shorts for children and youth. The programme is divided with respect to age, into films for pre-school children (4 – 6 years of age) and school-age children (7 – 16 years of age). To encourage the audience to be more active, the screenings will be followed by discussions for children, moderated by film educators.

This year’s edition brings five competition programs with more than 30 films, from, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech, Colombia, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA. What is more, the winner will be decided by a jury of children aged 15 or younger. The author of the winning film will be given a cash prize, as well as a trophy.

Alongside the film screenings planned for October (which make the central part of our Festival), we have also organized a number of pre-Festival events this year as well. Firstly, the workshop ‘Ways of Watching Films’, helmed by film critic Višnja Vukašinović, was held in April. The kid attendees learned there how to identify the various film-specific means of expression and write a well-argued film review.

For this summer break, we organized a four-day documentary film workshop with award-winning film director Đuro Gavran as the mentor and editing student Lucija Strugar as his assistant.

An animated film workshop titled ‘The End of Summer’ was held in September, mentored by Jasminka Bijelić Ljubić. We also visited Petrinja, where we organized the screening and stop animation workshop in collaboration with Naša djeca association.

Some of the girls and boys who attended these workshops are now invited to the Festival to be members of this year’s children’s jury, in charge of selecting the best films.

The aim of the KIKI festival is to nourish the habit and culture of film watching in children from an early age and to develop their visual literacy, with a special emphasis placed on educational films which inspire critical thinking in children and strengthen a sense of equality in society.

We are excited to bring you the most interesting works, only the best of the best from children and youth cinema, for the tenth time. You are cordially invited to make our anniversary extra special and enjoy all the wonders cinema has to offer!

Yours,
KIKI team!
